You have heard the rumors about Chihuahuas, that they are nasty and they are very ugly and scary looking when you get them mad, but overall, the dogs are also known for their devotion for their owners and the fact that they have little dog personalities, whether good, bad or indifferent.
These dogs also have a reputation of being wound a little too tightly; they can be trained to be very social animals. You have to take into account, the dog’s master, the environment in which the dog is being kept and also if the dog has plenty of room to exercise. A pent up dog is a frustrated dog.
But one rumor may be true; Chihuahuas are not the best choice in the world to get as a pet for a small child. The dog seems like a good idea because the dog is small and looks like fun to handle but it is not a good idea. Chihuahuas are protective of their owners and if the baby was getting more attention than the dog then it could turn into something you don’t want.
You can however, teach the dog to interact with the baby but you may need a professional to help you out especially where a baby is concerned. The dogs are very sensitive to the cold because their bodies are so small and fragile. That’s one reason why people dress up their dogs when they go outside.
